ZSL week 10: Emmanuel Mayuka shoots Napsa to first win of the season as Zesco United open three-point lead

Zesco United has returned to the summit of the Super League while Prison Leopards have moved into the top four with Green Buffaloes losing their third straight match following week ten action that took center stage this afternoon.

The MTN/FAZ Super League week ten action came alive this afternoon with seven games being played around the country.

In Lusaka, Power Dynamos ended their nine-year winless run at Edwin Imboela Stadium as they beat High Flying Nkwazi 3-1.

Biston Banda scored his second goal in Power Dynamos colors as he put Abayellow in the lead just 14 minutes into the match. However, the lead did not last as a Jackson Kakunta blunder gifted Eric Chomba a chance to level in the 19th minute and Chomba made no mistake.

Abayellow came alive in the second half scoring twice in two minutes first Benson Sakala in the 55th minute and Chaniza Zulu a minute later. Power Dynamos held on to win the match, their first at Edwin Imboela since 2008 and their first win since 2016 over the Zambia Police sponsored outfit.

On a sad note, Chaniza Zulu was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) where he is getting medical attention from a head injury in the match ( Get week soon Chaniza ).

At Woodlands Stadium, Lusaka Dynamos fresh from an embarrassing 4-2 loss to Prison Leopards welcomed Red Arrows in an early kick-off. The Wedson Nyirenda tutored outfit was on another level this afternoon as they put four past the Airmen.

Collins Sikombe put Lusaka Dynamos in the lead but Felix Bulaya leveled matters. Aubrey Funga and Ocean Mushure made it 3-1 before Sikombe could seal the result from the penalty spot.

In the second match at the same venue, Former Southampton striker Emmanuel Mayuka scored the only goal of the game as Napsa Stars finally won their first Super League game this season. For Buffaloes the loss was their third in as many games.

Prison Leopards are on cloud nine as they recorded their second win in as many games beating Young Green Eagles 2-0 away in Kafue with goals from Landu Miete and Junior Zulu. The win sees Mwenya Chipepo’s men move to fourth place on the log.

In Ndola, Zesco United gave up their lead twice but still managed to seal a 3-2 win to open a three-point lead at the summit.

Zesco went ahead through a John Ching’andu header but Kaloji Mwepu leveled matters shortly. Zesco went ahead again thanks to Moses Soko’s own goal but substitute Djunese Kanda leveled matters with a close-range finish.

Zesco however sealed the win in the 90th minute thanks to a well-taken Logic Ching’andu free-kick leaving the Indeni goalkeeper with no chance. The win means Zesco United has moved 3 points clear at the summit with 18 points but Buildcon can leapfrog them with a win over Kitwe United tomorrow.

In Solwezi, Ali Sadiki scored a brace and Jimmy Ndhlovu scored for Kabwe Warriors who lead for most of the match but late goals from Cletus Molani and Emmanuel Manda made for a nervy ending.

There was a clash of heads between Jimmy Nakena and Mofya Kaunda and they were both rushed to the hospital (Get well soon).
