ZPPA bans three private firms

By Paul Shalala

The Zambia Public Procurement Authority -ZPPA- has permanently banned three private companies from participating in government contracts for collusion and price fixing.

This concerns a tender for the supply of 450,000 facemasks which was advertised by the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit -DMMU- in March 2021.

ZPPA Principal Public Relations Officer INUTU MUSHAMBATWA says the Authority has referred the three companies to the Anti-Corruption Commission -ACC- for further investigations and possible prosecution.

In an interview with ZNBC News, Ms. MUSHAMBATWA named the three companies as Suwilo General Dealers, Hycromax Zambia Enterprises and SAMQUIP Zambia Limited.

She said investigations by the ZPPA revealed that two of the companies had the same administrator who was also a director for the third company.
