ZNS Opens Chongwe milling plant

The Zambia National Service -ZNS- has opened its milling plant in Chongwe District in an effort to help reduce mealie meal prices ..

Defence Minister AMBROSE LUFUMA says the plant has already produced over 4,000 25 kg bags of both Breakfast and Roller Meal.

Mr. LUFUMA says the plant will however NOT sell mealie meal to traders because Government wants to ensure that households are given priority to access affordable mealie meal without involving middle men.

And ZNS Commandeer MALITI SOLOCHI said the plant will sell a 25 kg bag of Breakfast Meal at K150 while roller meal will go at k120 in all their Milling plants.

Lieutenant General SOLOCHI said the Mealie Meal is readily available for purchase and will restrict the number of bags a family can buy so that as many people as possible can benefit .

He said the Service has plans to Construct Milling plants in all the 10 Provinces for wide spread availability.
