ZNBC Radio One and Two transmitters have been commissioned in Kalomo District, Southern Province.

The Kalomo transmitter is the first to be commissioned following the launch of the installations in 15 districts across the country.

Information and Media Permanent Secretary, KENNEDY KALUNGA, says the project to install all the 15 transmitters will cost the government K7.2 million.

Mr. KALUNGA says the development is a clear indication of the government’s desire and determination to ensure equal access to information for all citizens.

He has commended management of ZNBC for installing the transmitters on schedule, and making it possible for Kalomo residents to access Radio 1 and 2 for the first time.

Speaking at the same event, ZNBC Board Chairperson, JACK KALALA, thanked the government for funding the project.

And ZNBC Acting Director General, BRIGHT NKAKA, said the installation of the transmitters is being done by ZNBC engineers.

Kalomo District Council Chairperson, COY MAKAYA and Chief SIPATUNYANA, said the commissioning of the ZNBC radio transmitter in the district will accelerate development in the area.
