By Wilson Mulinda

The Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority -ZICTA- has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Securities and Exchange Commission -SEC- aimed at protecting capital markets from cyber crimes.

ZICTA Director General CHOOLWE NALUBAMBA says the authority is also coming up with digital ID’s which will make it difficult for scammers and perpetrators of cyber crimes to penetrate systems.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Mr. NALUBAMBA said ZICTA also commits to raising awareness and providing vulnerability assessment and penetration testing when there is suspicion of cyber crimes.

Meanwhile, SEC Chief Executive Officer PHILLIP CHITALU said the use of digital technologies comes at a risk which is why such partnerships are key to protecting consumers and service providers.
