ZESCO United outclass Lusaka Dynamos to win Charity Shield

Zambia Super League defending Champions ZESCO United kicked off their 2021/2022 campaign on a bright note as they thrashed Lusaka Dynamos 4-0 in the annual curtain-raiser, the Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Charity Shield.

The Ndola-based outfit started on a good note opening the scores in the 4th minute, Kenyan talisman Jesse Jackson Were with a close-range finish.

Lusaka Dynamos immediately came back into the game and looked eager to get an equalizer with Chipyoka Songa, Collins Sikombe and Emmanuel Chabula at the center of the action.

However, Zega Mambo doubled the lead in the 40th minute, Midfielder Chanda Mukuka with his first ZESCO United goal before Jesse Jackson Were could make it 3-0 just before halftime.

In the second half, Numba Mumamba decided to introduce several young players, Paul Banda, Albert Moobola, and new signing Edward Lungu and it was Lungu who sealed the result with a close-range finish to mark his debut with a goal.

It was a well-worked performance for the nine-time League Champions and an afternoon to forget for the ABSA Cup Champions, Lusaka Dynamos who looked anything but coordinated.
