ZESCO United and Nkana stunned as Green Buffaloes continue to soar

Zambia Super League Defending Champions ZESCO United and record 13-time Champions, Nkana have both been stunned by newcomers Kafue Celtic and Chambishi FC respectively.

The Zambia Super League entered week five on Wednesday afternoon with nine matches taking center stage across the country.

At Edwin Imboela Stadium, newcomers Kafue Celtic shocked defending Champions, ZESCO United 2-0 to record their second win of the season.

Goals from Richard Daka and Christopher Bwalya secured maximum points for the Crocs and a well-deserved win over the Ndola-based giants.

In Ndola, Buildcon and Power Dynamos played out to a goalless draw as Abayellow recorded their first point of the season.

At the same venue, Ten-man Forest Rangers also played out to a goalless draw with Lusaka Dynamos. John Kaku was sent off in the dying minutes of the game.

At Nkana Stadium, Chambishi recorded their first win of the season as they stunned Nkana 1-0 at Chilata. Chabala Kasanda’s first-half strike was enough to earn the newcomers their first win of the campaign.

Log leaders, Green Buffaloes continued their good form as they handed Kabwe Warriors their third straight loss of the 2021/2022 Super League season.

Friday Samu and Paul Simpemba scored for the Zambia army-sponsored outfit while Twiza Chaibela scored Kabwe Warriors’ face-saver.

Indeni came from a goal down to beat ten-man Kansanshi Dynamos 2-1 away at the Solwezi Independence Stadium.

Martin Phiri and Cephas Handavu’s headed goals secured maximum points for the Oilo men. Daniel Chama put the hosts in the lead before Christopher Katongo was sent off for a second bookable offense.

The win takes Indeni to 7th place while Kansanshi Dynamos drop to 13th place.

Nkwazi edged Prison Leopards 1-0 thanks to a Langson Mbewe strike to move up to 3rd place with 10 points on the log.

Sensational ZANACO were held to a goalless draw by Green Eagles away in Choma while Red Arrows came from a goal down to rescue a point against Konkola Blades.
