Zesco loadshed Nakambala sugar plantation

Nakambala Leopards hosted Zesco United in a rescheduled week two MTN/FAZ Super League tie in Mazabuka. Zesco United who were on continental engagement over the weekend traveled To Mazabuka without Japanese international Kosuke Nakamachi who suffered an injury in training.

Kenyan striker Jesse Jackson Were was the hero of the day as he netted a hat-trick to send Zesco United to the summit of the 2019/2020 Super League season.

Zesco boss George Lwandamina rested veteran goalkeeper Jacob Banda and John Chingandu from the team that won away and were replaced by Dieudonne and Winston Kalengo Respectively.

Nakambala Leopards head coach Zeddy Saileti, on the other hand, handed John Goma his debut and with Support from Lukwembe Chisenga and Chitoshi Mukuma from the flanks.

Organized Zesco United took the early minutes of the game to display some good interchange of passes putting pressure on the home team. In the 20th minute given Sinyangwe was judged to have fouled Thabani Kamusoko in the box and the referee awarded Zesco United a penalty, Jesse Were stepped up and converted with ease.

With only a minute to half-time, Quadri Kola showed some good footing skills beating both Mathews Ngoma and Given Sinyangwe to set up Jese Were slotted home and went to the half-time break with a brace.

In Second Half Zesco United Brought in John Chingandu replacing Khondwani Mtonga adding more flare to the midfield and in turn putting more pressure to the Sweet boys who failed to settle and couldn’t string passes together. For Nakambala Felix Bulaya was Introduced for Lukwembe Chisenga to try and Mount pressure on Zesco but the away team proved to be a hard-nut to crack. Nakambala Head Coach Zeddy made a double substitution bringing in Patrick Ngoma and Changala Simutenda for Portipher Zulu and Chitoshi Mukuma.

The Defending Champions Continued adding pressure and being a thorn in the flesh of the Sweetboys who are still yet to score a goal in the 2019 season. Jesse Were completed his hat-trick in the 51st minute finishing off a Clement Mwape pass to complete an emphatic 3-0 win for Zesco United.

The hat-trick is the first of the season and sends Were to the top of the Top goalscorers chart tied with Nkana striker Idriss Ilunga Mbombo at 3 goals.

The win puts Zesco at the top of the table and the Zambia Sugar sponsored out-fit drop to the bottom of the League thanks to their back to back loses.
