ZESCO awards deserving players, Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba snubbed…As Adrian Chama bags top gong

Super League Champions ZESCO United held their end-of-season award ceremony on Sunday evening following their coronation earlier in the day.

Several deserving players were awarded for their outstanding performances during the just-ended season. Defender Adrian Chama took the top accolade as he was crowned club Player of the Year after guiding the electricity men to their ninth league title during an awards gala at Protea Hotel in Ndola.

Long-serving midfielder and skipper John Chin’gandu was named as the Players’ Player of the Year award while the most consistent player went to Kenyan goalkeeper Ian Otieno.

Jesse Jackson Were who netted four goals earlier in the day as ZESCO United thrashed Buildcon 7-2, bagged the top scorer’s award with 10 goals while Zimbabwean midfielder Thabani Kamusoko scooped the most disciplined player award.

2019 U-20 COSAFA winner Chanda Mukuka edged Samuel Sikaonga and Enock Sakala Jnr to the Young player of the year accolade.

Chipolopolo midfielder Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba who has been impressive for the Champions was surprisingly not on the list of award receivers.

All awards were accompanied by a K10, 000 token of appreciation.
