ZCTU calls for closer ties with CSOs

Zanis-The Zambia National Congress of trade unions -ZCTU- has called for enhanced collaboration between civil society organisations and the Labour movement.

Speaking during the opening of a ZCTU and civil society organisations leadership workshop ZCTU Secretary General COSMAS MUKUKA said civil society organisations and the Labour movement should champion the improvement of mankind in society.

Mr. MUKUKA said through combined strategic efforts a lot of successes can be scored in tackling priority areas of common interest such as good governance and the protection of the democratic space.

And speaking during the same occasion a representative of the solidarity centre, LEAH KAMUNGOMA, expressed worry at the shrinking democratic space in Africa.

Ms KAMUNGOMA said twenty two countries on the continent are operating under an authoritarian governance system and thereby leading to the shrinking democratic space.
