Zanaco Boyd Musonda showed Sfaxien what they could have had after discarding him

Zanaco midfielder Boyd Musonda came out of age on Sunday night after he bossed the engine in a CAF Confederations Cup Group A against Club Sportive Sfaxien.

The Zambian side was holding out for a draw until they conceded a penalty in injury time which was scored by Hazri.

Although, the bankers offered less going forward, Kelvin Kaindu’s side were resolute and tactically disciplined at the back as they opted for a low block.

In the mix of that was Musonda, who impressed in the middle of the pack alongside Kelvin Kapumbu and Lassa Kiala.

The 24 year old, who is often criticized for his erratic play, had one of his best games in a long time in Tunis on Sunday.

That triangular midfield has been lauded, and it just showed the Tunisians what they could have had if they had not discarded him.

In July 2019, the former Zambia Under-20 star signed a three year deal with Sfaxien but six months into the deal, his contract was ripped off.

“Boyd travelled to Tunisia to start his career as a Sfaxien player but after he few weeks, they started ignoring him and was forced to stay at the hotel,” a ZamFoot Crew source close to the player said

“He was left alone at the hotel with no money to book a taxi for training. Things became worse for the young man.

“The experience was bad for him and there’s this feeling that he was kind of mistreated. Imagine going for over three months without.

In September 2021, Musonda was featured in the back to back Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Tunisia and Mauritania.
