Zamstats consulting extensively on census

Ruth Chayinda-Finance and National Planning Permanent Secretary TREVOR KAUNDA says the Zambia Statistics Agency -ZAMSTATS- has carried out extensive consultations regarding the upcoming 6th Census in August this year.

Mr. KAUNDA says despite the delay in conducting the census, Government is committed to successfully undertake the process.

He says the census is expected to meet the interest of diverse data users and the results will be disseminated in a timely manner.

Mr. KAUNDA says the census is a critical tool because it helps in effective decision making for improving livelihoods and communities.

He said this in a speech read on his behalf by the Director Planning MWAKA MUKUBESA during the census workshop themed’ improving the impact of census results ‘which has seen about 20 African countries participating.

And United Nations Population Fund -UNFPA- and United Nations Economic Commission for Africa have both pledged to provide technical assistance to Zambia in conducting the census.

ZAMBIA is scheduled to conduct a national census from the August 18, to September 14 this year.
