ZAMMSA rectifies UTH reagents scarcity

The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency- ZAMMSA- says interventions have been made to respond to non availability of reagents at the University Teaching Hospital-UTH.

ZAMMSA Director General VICTOR NYASULU has confirmed that the hospital is now able to conduct full blood count tests.

Mr NYASULU says the non availability of laboratory reagents nearly paralyzed operations at the biggest referral hospital.

He further adds that other measures that have been put in place has seen stock availability of essential medicines and laboratory products at the central warehouse improve from 60 to 64 % and 40 to 54 % respectively.

Mr NYASULU has also disclosed during a press briefing that the agency spent over K9m on medicines and medical supplies to the Cholera centers across the country.
