ZAMBIANS URGED TO BE PATRIOTIC

By Ruth Chayinda-

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has urged ZAMBIANS to be patriotic especially those called to serve in public office.

President HICHILEMA says Zambians can learn from the crop of the older generation of leaders who chose patriotism and made sacrifices for the betterment of the country.

He says there is need for ZAMBIANS to work together in unity, because everyone is gifted differently.

President HICHILEMA said this during the official funeral for Former Cabinet Minister and Freedom Fighter SIKOTA WINA who has been described as an accomplished politician.

He said Mr. WINA who was a statesman should be mourned with dignity because of his indelible contribution to the country’s independence and public office under the Dr. KENNETH KAUNDA leadership.

AND Zambia United National Association of Freedom Fighters representative HERBERT ZULU said the association will miss Mr. WINA because he was the overseer of the organization.

And in a sermon, Chaplin General Brigadier General Reverend HENRY MATIFEYO said there is need for Zambians to rise above tribe and divisions but carry on with the legacy that the fore fathers believed in.

Mr WINA’s Children paid tribute to their father and described him as a principled man who was selfless, hardworking and dedicated to serve others.

And in a vote of thanks, Former Vice President INONGE WINA who is also the Sister in Law thanked Government for the support rendered to the WINA family during sickness and death.

Mrs. WINA also called on the current generation to build on relationships that promote justice, fairness, love, peace and inclusiveness adding that the older generation of the WINAs did their part in fighting for freedom.

Mr. WINA, who died on Wednesday last week, will be buried tomorrow at Nawinda Royal village in Mwandi district, Western Province.

Various dignitaries also attended the funeral service, among them is 6th President EDGAR LUNGU, Former Vice Presidents, Political and senior Government officials.
