Zambians should benefit from forfeited properties –NPA, DEC

By Wilson Mulinda

The National Prosecution Authority –NPA- says Zambians should benefit from the forfeited properties that were acquired dubiously.

NPA Deputy State Chief Advocate MARGARET CHITUNDU was speaking when she led a team of officers from her office and Drug Enforcement Commission -DEC- in inspecting forfeited properties of Former President EDGAR LUNGU’s daughter CHIYESO worth over nine million kwacha.

The properties located in Lusaka’s state lodge area are a division of two farms with a high cost house, four chicken runs, and three flats valued at over nine million Kwacha.

Ms. CHITUNDU said the properties that were forfeited to the state on Tuesday will either be rented out or used as rehabilitation centres for the DEC.

Meanwhile, NPA Public Relations Officer CHALI MBEWE- HAMBAYI said the two institutions remain committed to combating financial crimes and ensuring people that engage in criminal activities do not benefit from their actions.
