Zambian in Europa Conference Qualification..as league goes on recess.

The Zambian duo of Edward ‘Tiger’ Chilufya and Emmanuel Banda both featured this afternoon as Djurgården narrowly won at Häcken to seal a 3rd place league finish and qualification to next season’s UEFA Europa Conference League.

Chilufya, who put-in a good ninety minute shift, was involved in the only goal of the match.

The former Mpande Youth man played a neat pass to club captain, Magnus Eriksson, who went past a ‘sea’ of opposition players before coolly finding the back of the net in the 12th minute.

Emmanuel Banda was introduced in the 79th minute for injured Hampus Finndell to add steel to the midfield as the visitors held on for a slender 1-0 win.

Today’s round of fixtures marked the end of the 2021 Allsvenskan season, Sweden’s top tier league competition.

Djurgården finish 3rd, just 2 points behind newly crowned league champions, Malmö FF.

In terms of stats, winger Edward ‘Tiger’ Chilufya managed 8 goals and 3 assists in 29 games.

While midfielder Emmanuel Banda, who predominantly was given a ‘super-sub’ role registered 4 goals in 22 games.

The new league season is expected to commence on January 10.
