Zambian footballer awarded a scholarship in the USA

Zambian youngster Salifyanji Mugala has been awarded a football scholarship at Eastern Florida State College in Brevard County, Florida, United States of America.

Mugala who is better known as Diesel was part of coach Charles Bwale’s preliminary squad for the 2018 COSAFA U20 Youth championships.

Mugala is currently enrolled at the Admiral Farragut Academy and in his Junior year studying Physical Therapist (Health Care field).

The former Young Power Dynamos player is thankful to God for the opportunity and says will take the opportunity with both hands so that he be able to help his family later in life.

“Well to be honest with you I’m humbled and grateful It’s God doing his work. It is miracle going into a different country not knowing anyone and going to school for free it’s a blessing it’s just making my parents proud and family proud,” Mugala told the ZamFoot Crew in an exclusive interview.

“It is very important for me because it’s my future and my life so I can help my parents and sister so I’m doing everything 110 % because home is far so I’m taking advantage of the opportunity God has given me ….I’m trusting the process,” Mugala added.

All the paperwork has been signed for his scholarship and once the Coronavirus outbreak is contained he will be able to move to Eastern Florida State College campus.

The Brevard County-based College has produced a number of notable people including, American-Israeli retired professional basketball player and coach, Derrick Lanorris Sharp, Bruce Douglas Bochy, an American former professional baseball player and manager who is best known as the former manager of the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball from 2007 to 2019.

Another notable Eastern Florida alumnus is William Joseph Posey an American businessman and politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Florida’s 8th congressional district, in Congress since 2009.
