ZAMBIA TO HOST MERCK CONFERENCE

Zambia is expected to host the 8th Edition of the Merck Foundation Africa Asia Luminary Virtual Conference from April 27th to 29th, this year.

Health Minister JONAS CHANDA says the annual conference will be officially opened by President EDGAR LUNGU, while the First Lady ESTHER LUNGU will co-chair the conference.

Dr. CHANDA says the three-day conference is aimed at contributing to social and economic development of Africa.

He explained that Zambia will be hosting the conference using virtual platforms in line with COVID – 19 health guidelines.

The minister further said that the conference will be attended by First Ladies from 19 African countries.

Selected Ministers led by the minister of Health will also look at priority developmental issues.

This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC News in Lusaka today.
