ZAMBIA TO EXPLOIT WALVIS BAY

(ZANIS) Lusaka Province Minister SHEAL MULYATA says the country has repositioned itself to create an enabling environment for attracting foreign investment and promoting local industries to boost development.

Mrs. MULYATA said this when Namibia’s High Commissioner to Zambia SIYAVE HAINDONGO paid a courtesy call on her.

She said ZAMBIA will take advantage of Namibia’s Walvis Bay port which has been created to promote trade among the two countries including Congo D.R. under the Walvis Bay Ndola Lubumbashi Development Corridor.

Mrs. MULYATA noted that the country is in a hurry to promote export oriented goods and the use of the walvis Bay port in Namibia will help to drive the economic recovery agenda.

And the Namibian envoy his country will remain indebted to Zambians for the support rendered during the independence struggle.

Co-Chairperson for Walvis Bay Ndola Lubumbashi Development Corridor CEDRIC LIMBO said the provision of the bay entails that Zambia is no-longer a land locked country but land linked as it has easy access to the Namibian port.

Dr LIMBO who is also Director under the Namibian Ministry of works and Transport said truck drivers from Zambia and Congo DR have the advantage of transporting their goods to Walvis Bay because the country has the best road network in Africa.

He noted that Walvis Bay is one the safest for truck drivers as they do not need escort to transport their goods.
