Zambia Super League week six comes alive as Warriors, Power, and Zanaco search for first win

The Zambia Super League will this afternoon enters week 6 of action with six matches taking center stage.

Defending Champions ZESCO United who has several players on national duty will not be in action as their game with Kansanshi Dynamos is postponed.

Sunset Stadium will host a doubleheader as Nkwazi welcomes Forest Rangers as Sensational ZANACO entertain Prison Leopards. Log leaders are away to Chambishi FC while winless Power Dynamos host rejuvenated youthful Kafue Celtic.

The Zambia Police sponsored outfit will welcome the Ndola-based outfit in an early kick-off at Sunset Stadium.

Nkwazi will be aiming to maintain their good start to the season which sees them in third place on the log after 5 games with three wins and only one loss to their name.

Forest Rangers will also be looking to move above Nkwazi should they win this match.

History is however on Nkwazi’s side as the hosts have managed to six out of their last 14 meetings with Fole Malembe winning three and the other five ending in draws. Forest Rangers have further not won in this fixture when they are away since May 2015 and the last beat Nkwazi in 2019 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium 2-0 with goals from Austin Muwowo and Zikiru Adams.

Kelvin Kaindu may have already started feeling the pressure at Sunset Stadium after failing to pick up a single point in three games.

Kaindu’s Bankers welcome inconsistent Prison Leopards this afternoon as they look to pick their first point and possibly first win of the season.

Prison Leopards have also been disappointing this season as they have only picked up one win from five games played so far.

Zanaco and Prison Leopards have met four times previously with the Bankers winning three and only losing one.

Power Dynamos vs Kafue Celtic | Arthur Davies Stadium 15:00

Power Dynamos fortunes this season keeps turning from bad to worse as they have only managed to pick up a single point after five rounds of matches.

The 2011 Super League Champions now welcome team-high confidence in Kafue Celtic, the Crocs are fresh from an emphatic 2-0 win over ZESCO United and will fancy their chances against Abayellow.

Albert Kangwanda has already netted three goals this season and will lead Celtic’s attack at Arthur Davies Stadium.

A win for the Crocs will see them move into or towards the top four places while are just searching for their first three points of the season.

Indeni FC vs Nkana | Trade Fair Ground 15:00

Indeni is away from their usual home, the cage, Indeni Sports Complex, and welcome record 13-time Champions, Nkana at Trade Fair ground.

Indeni has seven points after four games and will be hoping to make them 10 but face a tricky Nkana side.

Nkana is coming from a shock 1-0 defeat at the hands of Chambishi FC and will be keen to get back to winning ways.

However they face a team that has given them a lot of problems in the recent past, Basing on the head-to-head League statistics, it is the Ndola outfit that has a better record claiming 3 wins from 6 meetings since 2012. The best result Nkana has produced in the last 6 clashes is forcing 3 draws in 2012 and 2014.

Nkana will also be without head coach Beston Chambeshi who is out in Cameroon but they can still bank on striker Alex ‘Bazo’ Ng’onga who has netted three goals so far. Midfielder Harrison Chisala is also out injured.

Chambishi FC vs Green Buffaloes | Chambishi Ground 15:00

Newcomers Chambishi FC who are fresh from a huge one-nil win over Nkana away at Nkana Stadium welcome log leaders Green Buffaloes.

Chambishi will fancy their chances of claiming another massive win and look to be the first team to inflict a defeat on Justin Chinama’s team this season.

Buffaloes on the other will look to extend their lead at the summit. They lead the log with a 3 point margin and will be looking to increase it.

Friday Samu, Paul Simpemba, and Robin Siame are expected to play a key role in the Zambia army-sponsored outfit.

Kabwe Warriors vs Konkola Blades | Godfrey Chitalu stadium 15:00

Kabwe Warriors were handed an early exit from the CAF Confederation Cup by CFFA of Madagascar and were hoping to turn their fortunes around in the league but after three games they are still winless.

The magnificent people’s team sits bottom of the log table and is in desperate need of a win.

They welcome a Konkola Blades side that has proved to be a giant Killers this season.

Blades will however be without five players in Owen Tembo (Knee), Jack Pasela (Tendon), Deo Kayombo (Knee), Kelly Kayemb (ankle), and Edward Mwenya ( Muscle).
