Zambia Super League week 5 comes alive

The Zambia Super League will enter week five of action this afternoon with nine mouth-watering encounters taking center stage across the country.

Defending Champions, ZESCO United will be away in Lusaka, Log leaders Green Buffaloes host out of form Kabwe Warriors while Nkana host newcomers Chambishi FC at Nkana Stadium.

Kafue Celtic recorded their first win over the weekend when they beat Buildcon 1-0 thanks to Albert Kangwanda’s third goal of the season and will be looking to make it back-to-back wins.

The Crocs welcome Defending Champions, ZESCO United who is on a two-match winning streak.

Numba Mumamba and his boys suffered a shock first-round exit in the CAF Champions League and are desperate to make a statement on the local scene.

The nine-time league champions will be without Kelvin Kampamba, Gregory Sanjase, Solomon Sakala, Dickson Chapa, and Simon Silwimba who are expected to leave for Cameroon with the Zambia National team ahead of the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Equatorial Guinea.

A win for Kafue Celtic will take them to seven points while ZESCO will be on nine points if they manage to get the best of the Joe Bwalya tutored Crocs.

Buildcon’s fairytale start to the season came to an end over the weekend after they suffered a 1-0 loss to Kafue Celtic.

Team Kopala will this afternoon however look to get back to winning ways as they host winless Power Dynamos at Indeni Sports Complex.

Power on the other hand is still searching for their first win of the season with Masauso Tembo under pressure from the fans to start producing results.

Buildcon having history behind them having beaten Abayellow four times in their last seven meetings and the other three games ending in draws.

Power Dynamos last beat Buildcon on 27th October 2018 thanks to a Jimmy Dzingai lone strike.

In Solwezi, Kansanshi Dynamos will welcome Indeni at the Independence Stadium in search of their second win of the season.

The Mabanga Boys have a win and a draw to their name and will look up to Ghanian forward Zikiru Adams and former Power Dynamos striker Davy Daka to get them the goals.

Indeni on the other hand is coming from a loss at the hands of fellow Ndola outfit ZESCO United and will be keen to bounce back to winning ways.

Midfielder Clement Mulenga is expected to lead the charge for Mwenya Chipepo’s Oilo men as they battle it out with Daniel Chama-led Kansanshi Dynamos midfield.

Fole Malembe needed a late free-kick from Clifford Mulenga to see off hopeless Power Dynamos last weekend and now welcome Lusaka Dynamos at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Lusaka Dynamos on the other hand finally recorded their first win of the season as they edged Prison Leopards 1-0 thanks to a Marvin Jere first-half goal.

Forest Rangers have an upper hand in this fixture on paper having beaten Elite three times in their last five meetings.

At President Stadium, a home Affairs derby will come alive as Prison Leopards welcome Zambia police sponsored outfit, High Flying Nkwazi.

Prison Leopards are coming off a loss against Lusaka Dynamos and will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways as they take on unpredictable Nkwazi.

Nkwazi played out to a goalless draw Green Eagles to move to seven points and fifth on the log table.
