Zambia has Performed Strongly-IMF

International Monetary Fund -IMF- Resident Representative PREYA SHARMA says Zambia has performed strongly under the Fund supported programme.

Ms. SHARMA says the Country has met all the quantitative targets and has met 9 of the Reform targets.

Speaking during the town hall forum on the 2023 mid-year economic performance in Lusaka today, Ms. SHARMA said this is a notable achievement given the challenging economic environment that the country has been faced with.

She noted that quick progress has also been made towards 3 headline objectives of the Fund Supported programme which include restoring fiscal and debt sustainability.

Ms. SHARMA said Zambia has also made progress to increase social spending and strengthen economic governance.
