ZAMBIA, GHANA TO ENHANCE TRADE & INVESTMENT RELATIONS

Zambia and Ghana have expressed their desire to enhance bilateral trade and investment relations.

This came to light when Commerce Trade and Industry Minister, Chipoka Mulenga paid a courtesy call on his Ghanaian counterpart Alan Kyerematen, Minister of Trade and Industry.

This was on the side-lines of the 8th Meeting of the African Continental Free Trade Area Council of Ministers Responsible for Trade held in Accra from January, 28 to 29, 2022.

Mr. Mulenga indicated that Ghana is a strategic partner as a getaway to the West Africa regional market.

He further said Zambia is also geographically positioned as a getaway for Ghana’s market into the SADC Region.

The two Ministers have agreed to draft the Trade and Investment Promotion Agreement to enable enhancement of trade between the two countries in the framework of the Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation between Zambia and Ghana that was signed in April,
2017.

Mr. Mulenga is in Accra to attend the 8th Meeting of the AfCFTA Council of Ministers Responsible for Trade.

The Council of Ministers meeting will be preceded by a Ministerial Retreat.

Mr. Mulenga arrived in Accra on Thrusday January, 27, 2022 and was met on arrival by Zambia’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Richard Mwanza , Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce Trade and Industry Mrs. Perpetual Chawe Mpande Chuulu, and other diplomatic staff.
