Zambia Doctors arrive in India for exchange programme

A team of six Zambian Doctors is in India to conduct Kidney transplants, on a government exchange programme, with India, meant for transfer of skills.

This is part of the implementation of a long term engagement, through a Memorandum of Understanding -MoU-, between Zambia and India.

Counsellor for Health at the Zambian mission in India VICTOR MUKONKA says the Zambian doctors will undertake the surgeries on Zambian patients, who are in that country.

Professor MUKONKA says the team consists of a renal physician, kidney specialist, urologist, anaesthetist, critical care consultant, and an Intensive Care Unit -ICU- nurse.

He has explained that government wants Zambian doctors to perform kidney transplants, in close collaboration with experts from India.
