Zambia Dairy Transformative Project comes to an end

The Zambia Dairy Transformative Project -ZDTP- has handed over assets to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock in an effort to boost the dairy industry,after the completion of the seven year program.

Receiving the assets on behalf of government, Minister of Fisheries and Livestock, MAKOZO CHIKOTE, thanked ZDTP for its work in supplementing government’s efforts adding that the project has left a footprint in the dairy industry.

Mr CHIKOTE said his ministry will endeavour to ensure sustainability in the industry by incorporating the knowledge generated under the project in planning for the dairy industry’s growth.

And, ZDTP Country Manager, MARNIX SANDERSE, disclosed that through the project implementation cycle, small-scale farmers have adopted dairy farming as a business.

Mr. SANDERSE noted that his organisation had contributed to lowering the cost of production among dairy farmers through trainings in silage production.

Among the asserts that have been handled over are three vehicles, a motor bike and office equipment.

ZDTP was a seven years’ project which aimed at disseminating best practices and sustainable business models in the dairy industry by facilitating collaboration in the value chain.
