ZAMBIA COSAFA START DISAPPOINTS MANY

By Chansa Kunda- Various football stakeholders have expressed disappointment with Zambia’s start to the COSAFA tournament after the team lost two one to Lesotho in a game played yesterday.

2019 COSAFA winning Coach AGGREY CHIYANGI says the current state of the national teams leaves much to be desired.

CHIYANGI says in order to address the current anomalies with the team’s performance, there is need to put in place a deliberate plan for any hired coach.

He told ZNBC Sports in an interview that there is need to abolish the system of hiring coaches on a short-term basis if a strong team is to be built.

CHIYANGI said the firing of coaches due to poor results in the early stages will never help the country as it is a major contributor to the team’s current poor performance.

And Football Analyst MUSONDA CHIBULU said Zambia’s loss to Lesotho is unacceptable.

CHIBULU said Chipolopolo Coach MILUTIN SREDOJEVIC will now be judged on results as the country is past the rebuilding phase looking at the number of games and competitions undertaken before the COSAFA tournament.

Zambia Sports Fans Association-ZASPOFA- Patron PETER MAKEMBO said the loss is a blow as a win was supposed to comfort the country following the death of First Republican President KENNETH KAUNDA who was laid to rest on July 7.

Zambia will play Eswatini tomorrow in what will be their second group ‘A’ fixture.
