Zambia among most vulnerable countries to climate change

Mary Kachepa-Zambia has been ranked 41st most vulnerable country to climate change out of 182 countries.

Ministry of Green Economy and Environment, Director Climate Change and Natural Resources EPHRAIM SHITIMA says so far a lot of attention has been paid to the needs of African countries in a quest to respond to the effects of climate change.

Mr SHITIMA, who is also Chairperson of the African Group of Negotiators- AGN, said this at the ongoing 56th Climate Change conference in Bonn, Germany.

And Zambia Environmental Management Agency- ZEMA- Climate Change and Natural Resources Manager CHARITY NALWEYA said the Zambian Government is among other interventions, strengthening legislation and institutional capacities.

Dr NALWEYA said this is to reduce greenhouse Gas emissions whose major sources are unsustainable agricultural practices, deforestation and charcoal production.
