ZAF TO USE AERIAL SURVEILLANCE TO TRACK SMUGGLERS

By Hector Simfukwe

The Zambia Air Force is planning to use aerial surveillance to track individuals who are smuggling mealie meal into neighbouring countries.

ZAF Commander Lieutenant General COLIN BARRY says officers are aware that smugglers have found other routes away from the established borders to smuggle the mealie meal.

General BARRY says ZAF will work with other law enforcement agencies to address the problem.

He said this when a team of defence chiefs and Copperbelt Minister ELISHA MATAMBO visited impounded trucks in Kasumbalesa area.

And ZNS commander MALITI SOLOCHI said the service has enough maize to produce mealie meal.
