WSL: Nkana Queens bounce back to the Super Division

Nkana Queens on Saturday announced their return to the Zambian Premier League Super Division after a convincing 5-1 victory over Ntindi Shining Stars away in Nakonde in their final match of the season in the National Division One Northern Region.

Nkana were heading into this game knowing very well that a positive result would propel them to the Elite League and the Red Queens did not disappoint as they went in with everything to play for facing a team they lost to by 2 goals to 1 at the 2022 Play-Offs in Lusaka it was not going to be an easy walk in the park for Aba Red Queens.

However, it was a happy and joyous moment for the Kalampians thanks to goal poacher Christine ‘Mbesuma’ Kandama and Donas Simaundu who scored a brace each as well as a goal from Florence Kasonde to ensure a safe passage to the Super League next season.

Elsewhere, Nchanga Queens who were already confirmed champions made life very difficult for Sporting Doves who were second going into this fixture and a victory was going to be enough for Doves to earn promotion provided Nkana stumbled at Ntindi but that was never meant to be as spoils were shared in Mpika, a result that worked to Nkana’s advantage.

It was double celebration for Nkana Queens and their male counterparts Kalampa who recorded a 2-nil victory over Power Dynamos in the Kopala Derby played in Ndola on a super Sunday in the MTN/FAZ Super Division.

After all round of matches, Nchanga Queens and Nkana Queens will play super division football next season from Northern Region while Play It Forward Queens and Choma Warriors will join after they also qualified to the top tier of Zambian Women’s Football from the Southern Region.
