World Bank pledges continued support to Zambia

By Ruth Chayinda

The World Bank has pledged to support Government in maintaining the rule of law.

World Bank Country Manager for Zambia ACHIM FOCK says the bank being a development institution is aware of the benefits that come with a strong rule of law as it advances development.

Dr. FOCK says Zambia has not only shown strong commitment to the rule of law through its judicial system but also in the administration.

The World Bank Country Head said this when he paid a courtesy call on Justice Minister MULAMBO HAIMBE at his office in Lusaka today.

And Mr. HAIMBE said Government has continued to put legislation in place that addresses the bottlenecks in the effort to improve the economy and the lives of the people.

He said his ministry continues to focus on laws that are aimed at enhancing the economic space as has been illustrated through the enactment of the public debt management act and also amendments to the public procurement act.
