Work together to attract investment,HH advises N/West chiefs
Masauso Mkwayaya-President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has called on traditional leaders in North-Western Province to continue working together to attract both local and foreign investors that will accelerate development in their chiefdoms.
President HICHILEMA says traditional leaders play an important role in providing oversight for the people to realise development in communities.
And President HICHILEMA says Government is concerned with reports of intra and inter chiefdom disputes in Kabompo and Manyinga Districts.
He says the disputes need to be resolved as soon as possible as they tend to hold back development.
President HICHILEMA said this in a speech read for him by North Western Province Minister ROBERT LIHEFU during the 2022 Lukwakwa Traditional Ceremony of the Bunda speaking people of Manyinga and Kabombo District under Senior Chief Sikufele in Manyinga.
The Traditional Ceremony was celebrated under the theme, “Harnessing Traditional Culture for Sustainable Development.”
And speaking at the same event, Tourism Permanent Secretary EVANS MUHANGA said his Ministry will through the Department of National Parks and Wildlife work closely with traditional leaders on issues that can benefit the local communities.
Mr. MUHANGA has since implored Chiefdoms to form Community Development Trusts so that they harness development in their localities.
And Senior Chief SIKUFELA has called for the strengthening of the policy to do with traditional leaders for them to play their role regarding the management of natural resources.
Chief SIKUFELA said this through the Lukwakwa Organizing Committee Chairperson KALUNGA MULYATA .
The traditional leader added that there is no nation or community that can develop sustainably by only depending on foreign resources.
