Full-Time Scores,

Progress Sports Club 1-3 Pataaki (Tionge Sambo 70′ | Blessings Zulu x2 30′ (P) 58′, Inonge Muyamwa 78′).

Pataaki Girls on Saturday morning edged Progress Sports Club 3-1 in a week 2 of the 2020/21 FAZ Women’s League encounter played at Mt. Makulu Secondary School Grounds in Chilanga District.

A brace from Blessings Zulu and a goal from Inonge Muyamwa was enough for the Stubborn Girls to collect maximum points at the expense of a high-spirited Progress Sports Club side that played their lungs out especially in the second half.

However, the Coach Patrick drilled lasses made sure they did the necessary damage by scoring despite missing several scoring opportunities from the captain of the side Pauline Zulu but of course credit should go to Progress’ goalkeeper Brenda Zulu who really did a good job and kept her team in the game with excellent saves much to the excitement of the locals who turned up to support their team.

Blessings opened the scoreline at the half-hour mark with a beautiful low shot assisted by Jessy Zulu which left Brenda Zulu with no chance in goal for Progress and the first half ended 1-0 to Pataaki.

Progress started the second half on a high note and looked poised to grab an equalizer in the early moments of the second half but good work at the back by Pataaki led by Pauline Lungu ensured that they closed down Agnes Zulu and Mary Siamukande with no chance to score.

A few minutes later, Jessy was yet again involved in a thick of things with a good pass to Pauline Zulu on the right flank and her cross hit Ireen Lubinda on the hand in the box right infront of the referee who blew for a penalty in favor of the visitors and Blessings stepped up and converted from the spot-kick in the 58th minute to complete her brace for the day and made it 2-0.

Progress came back and started fighting for goals and it did not take so long as Zambia Women’s Under-17 Midfielder Tionge Sambo out of nothing pulled one back with a long-range shot that caught Peggy unaware in goal for Pataaki in the 70th minute.

Just when Progress were pushing for an equalizer, the Olympia based side scored yet again benefiting from a defensive mistake after Jessy Zulu crossed the ball inside the box from a corner kick only for Inonge Muyamwa to slot home with a close-range shot in the 78th minute to make it 3-1 and beyond a comeback for the Linda based girls.

Progress continued piling pressure on Pataaki but that did not pay off as the referee brought the game to an end as Pataaki edged Progress 3-1 in an exciting match to go to 6 points from two games while Progress remains with 3 points.

Progress next assignment is an away tie to ZISD at Independence Stadium while Pataaki will entertain Lusaka Red Lions Women at Olympia Secondary School Grounds.
