WOMEN IN MINING IN TIES WITH AFRICAN DIASPORA

The Association of Zambian Women in Mining -AZWIM- has forged ties with African Diaspora Development Holdings that will see it access mining equipment and a ready market in the United States of America.

AZWIM President GRACE NJAPAU says Zambian women have had challenges of accessing equipment such as excavators among others to enhance their productivity.

She has expressed confidence that the partnership with African Diaspora Development Holdings, a US based organisation will enhance the operations of her members.

Mrs. NJAPAU has also thanked President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA for allocating 10-percent of the Black mountain to women.

And ARIKANA CHIHOMBORI – QUAO, Chief Executive Officer of African Diaspora Development Institute -ADDI- which is under African Diaspora Development Holdings said her organisation wants to improve the welfare of Zambian women in Mining by addressing their challenges.

She said ADDI will fund equipment to improve artisanal mining and promote safe mining methods.

Mrs. CHIHOMBORI-QUOA said the institute will also buy all minerals that the women will mine from gold to gemstones.

She also said it’s time for Africans in the Diaspora to take up their rightful place on the continent by utilizing raw materials to develop their economies.

The ADDI Founder added that there is no reason why the richest continent on earth should be the poorest.
