Women diggers die in pit horror

Zanis-Two women, of the same family, have died, when the pit they where digging soil from, collapsed in Isoka district, Muchinga province.

One person has survived.

Muchinga Province Police Deputy Commanding Officer, BUUMBA MUNKONDYA has confirmed, saying the incident happened yesterday at Ntumbi village in Chif KAFWIMBI’s area.

Ms MUNKONDYA has identified the deceased as MALITA NAMONJE, aged 63, and her daughter, DORCUS NANYIZYA, aged 31, while the survivor is SYLVIA NAMBELA, aged 21, who sustained minor injuries.

She explained that the three were digging for special soil, locally known as CHOKO.
