Woman Jailed for 7 years for abusing stepson

A Lusaka woman who assaulted her 4-year-old step son, has been sentenced to seven years simple imprisonment.

This is in a matter where LONGWE NGOSA of Apollo Military Camp in Lusaka pleaded not guilty to one count of assault on a child, contrary to the laws of Zambia.

When the matter came up for judgment, Lusaka Magistrate, MUTINTA MWENYA said the state had managed to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt.

Magistrate MWENYA said she was satisfied that the victim had been injured and that he knew who inflicted the injuries on him.

She said the video which was recorded by the victim’s teacher who was also a state witness was evidence enough that the boy had been injured.
