The Patriotic Front (PF) says it is disappointed with the stance taken by Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) to join the presidential petition describing the move as partisan.

The PF has stated this in a statement below issued by its Deputy Spokesperson Frank Bwalya.

LAZ last week announced that it will join the petition to help the court interpret the law.

Below is the PF’s press statement issued on Sunday, August 28, 2016.

LAZ PARTISAN STANCE ON THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION PETITION.

The patriotic Front is disappointed with the partisan stance LAZ has taken on the captioned matter above. We are disappointed as a party on how LAZ has decided to misdirect the court in the interpretation of the laws of the Country for transition Phase of presidency.

LAZ risks becoming irrelevant in Zambia if lawyers chose to be compromised at the expense of justice.
?Judging from the press statement issued by LAZ yesterday, their position on this matters is very clear. Therefore they should STOP PRETENDING to be neutral and joining the Presidential Petition before the Constitutional Court as “FRIENDS OF THE COURT.” If the REAL INTENTION is to render unvarnished legal opinion to the Court if and when they need it, why not just stick to the matters before the Court (PETITION) than going off on tangents that have little to do with the Case at hand?

It is shocking that LAZ supports institutions that want to spread chaos in the country such as Muvi TV and the post, again LAZ missed it when they took a partisan stance on the closure of media houses inciting violence.?

The entire statement/letter issued by LAZ yesterday ensures nothing but protection for upnd while PF is condemned and fore warned at every stage. The attributes displayed are animical of pseudo intellectualism filled with misogynist conjuncture.

It is clear too that LAZ is preparing its camp to blame the plaintiffs and their support structure should the ruling go against their favorites in this case being the respondents. There also seems to be some underground carriage to complicate the entire petition beyond what should easily obtain within 14days as stipulated by the Law. Well, We have some good news for LAZ, no amount of meddling with the issues at had will change the outcome. This is not an academic exercise, there are people’s lives at stake and no machination will change the will of the people.

As a party we have concluded preparations for inauguration, our members and country at large will soon be advised.
