Wanchinga Raps West Water Utility

Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection Minister Dennis Wanchinga has lashed out at Western Water and Sewerage company for delaying  the Muoyo Water Scheme Project in Nalolo district of Western province.Dr. Wanchinga says it is unacceptable that the water project which was started in 2016 and was scheduled to be done within six months has dragged for over two years.He says it is such poor management that is costing Government huge sums of money, adding that the water project which is being done at a cost of over 9-million Kwacha is very important for the residents of Nalolo.Dr. Wanchinga said this when he visited Nalolo district to establish why the Muoyo water project has delayed.He has since directed the water utility company to ensure that the contractor, Zambezi Drilling expedites works in order to improve water reticulation in Nalolo district.And, Zambezi Drilling Hydro Geologist, Nagaraj Gutti promised to speed up the works.Meanwhile, Dr. Wanchinga has expressed disappointment with the encroachment on water supply facilities in Mongu district.The Minister says it is unfortunate that some unscrupulous people have encroached on Western Water and Sewerage Company boreholes.He has also directed Western water to secure all water supply infrastructure from encroachment to avoid compromising with the quality of water.And Western Water and Sewerage Company Board Chairperson Patricia Mulasikwanda said the board will ensure that the minister’s concerns are addressed.
