Retired veteran politician Vernon Mwaanga has described late freedom fighter Simon Zukas as an icon that should not be excluded from Zambia’s history.

Dr. Mwaanga says no history of Zambia will be written without providing generous space for the late Mr. Zukas.

He states that the contribution of the late Freedom Fighter to the liberation of Zambia from colonial rule can only be equaled and not surpassed.

Dr. Mwaanga has recalled that from his early days as an engineer at University of Cape Town, in South Africa, the late Mr. Zukas was already an advocate for Zambia’s independence.

In a statement obtained by ZNBC news, Dr. Mwaanga also recalled that apart from being an advocate of freedom, the late Mr. Zukas was also hard working when he served in Cabinet.
