VEEP CALLS ON CIVIL SERVANTS TO SENSITIZE COMMUNITIES

By Justine Akakulubelwa

Vice President Inonge Wina, has advised civil servants to help sensitize and explain government policies to the communities where they operate from.

Mrs. Wina says civil servants have a responsibility to ensure that government policies are understood by the majority of Zambians to avoid misconceptions.

She says government has in the past ten years introduced policies and systems meant to improve the lives of people, but that there have been misconceptions over some of the policies and systems.

The Vice President said this in Livingstone today when she met members of the Zambia Civil Service Initiative Association -ZACIA.

And ZACIA Representative, Robinson Sampaya, praised government for the debt swap.

Mr. Sampaya said ZACIA the debt relief has come at a right time, when most civil servants in the area were struggling to repay the debts which were in some cases incurred as they were upgrading their qualifications.

And Southern Province Deputy Permanent Secretary, Kennedy Mubanga, said it is unfortunate that many people are being misled over government policies and interventions, such as the debt swap.
