VAR to be used during ABSA Cup Final

By Bernard Nkweto

Zambia will this afternoon become the first country in Southern Africa to use the Video Assistant Referee -VAR- system.

The technology will be used in the ABSA Cup Final between MUZA and Forest Rangers Football Clubs when the two clash at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka.

FAZ President ANDREW KAMANGA confirmed the development during the COSAFA Annual General Meeting in South Africa following the approval by FIFA and CAF.

And Football Analyst CHIBULU MUSONDA has told ZNBC Sports in an interview that the development is a step towards improving match officiating in the country especially in big games.

MUSONDA said VAR is a game-changer in developing Zambian Football and responding to vital errors made during the game by match officials.
