USA, ZAMBIA  ENJOYING RENEWED CONFIDENCE

By Sharon Kunda:

Foreign Affairs and International Relations Minister Stanley Kakubo says there is renewed confidence and goodwill in the relations between the USA and Zambia.

Mr. Kakubo says this is as a result of the recent trip to the United States of America by President Hakainde Hichilema which he says was a resounding success and was pivotal in enhancing Zambia’s relations both at bilateral and multilateral levels.

He says the President’s trip will have a positive impact on the country’s path to economic recovery following renewed confidence and goodwill from the international community in the US-Zambia relations.

Speaking when he delivered a Ministerial statement to parliament today on the Head of State’s trip to the USA, the Foreign Affairs Minister said President HICHILEMA’s trip expedited negotiations with the IMF and the World Bank in order to create a conducive

environment for debt sustainability.

Mr. Kakubo said there are also increased chances of readmission to the Millennium Challenge Impact which was suspended in 2018 due to poor governance by the previous PF Government.

He informed Government that the other outcomes of the visit include pledged technical support for strengthening of governance structures and renewed interest in trade and investment opportunities in Zambia.

Mr. Kakubo said President Hichilema will continue to undertake his role as the Chief Salesperson on behalf of the citizens based on the overwhelming mandate given to him by the people.
