US Treasury Secretary to visit Zambia

United States Treasury Secretary JANET YELLEN will visit Zambia from January 22 to 24, 2023.

According to a press release issued by the Treasury Department in Washington DC, Ms. YELLEN will visit Zambia as part of her African tour which will also take her to South Africa and Senegal.

The statement says she will hold talks with President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA, Finance Minister SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE and Bank of Zambia Governor DENNY KALYALYA.

During her tour, the US Treasury Secretary will visit a US firm Mylan Laboratory in Lusaka which distributes anti-malarial and anti-retroviral drugs.

Ms. YELLEN will also tour two agricultural projects and meet leaders of the American Chamber of Commerce in Zambia before flying out to South Africa to continue her visit.
