UPND Will NOT Entertain Calls To Replace Its Secretary General

By Paul Shalala

The UPND says it will not condone recent calls for its Secretary General BATUKE IMENDA to be replaced by Lusaka Province Chairperson OBVIOUS MWALITETA.

UPND Spokesperson, CORNELIUS MWEETWA says it is not right for any party member to agitate for the replacement of Mr. IMENDA because the party has rules and regulations on appointments.

Mr. MWEETWA, who is also Southern Province Minister, says the UPND is an orderly party and cohesion or demonstrations have never been part of its way of replacing office bearers.

Speaking at a press briefing at the UPND Secretariat in Lusaka this afternoon, Mr MWEETWA said the party is solidly behind President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA and all his appointees.

MEANWHILE, Mr. MWALITETA has distanced himself from calls for him to replace the party Secretary General.

Mr. MWALITETA said the appointment of the party Secretary General is a preserve of President HICHILEMA.
