UPND MOB ASSAULTS NATIONAL REGISTRATION OFFICERS

A mob of suspected UPND cadres  this afternoon assaulted National registration officers and also stole and vandalized quipment and materials worth thousands of Kwacha meant for the Mobile National Registration Card exercise in Chitamba village in Kasama District .

Northern Province Police Commissioner Richard Mweene who confirmed the incident has described the act as barbaric.

Mr. Mweene says the exercise is a national event that has been disrupted by unruly individuals.

He has warned the culprits that they will be rounded up adding  police have since instituted investigations in the matter.

Mr. Mweene was speaking in an interview with ZNBC News in Kasama.

And Home Affairs Public Relations Officer Nephas Chifuta said the exercise must not be politicised .

Mr. Chifuta says all information relating to the exercise is in public domain.

He adds that  the national documents is being issued to all eligible Zambians without any form of selection.
