U23 GETS READY FOR AFCON

By Wilson Mulinda

Zambia has intensified preparations for the second round Under 23 AFCON qualifiers.

Team Manager LOMBE CHIPUPU says 29 players have been assembled for the games against Sierra Leone.

CHIPUPU says the team only has one injury concern in RICKY BANDA, who has been ruled out for the first leg but will be assessed if he can return for the second leg in Lusaka.

He told ZNBC news during training that the team is following a regulation given by CAF that only players born after January 1st, 2001 are eligible to play for the national team.

Meanwhile, Winger JIMMY MUKEYA said the team will target a win at all costs in the away encounter to lessen the burden in the home match.

And JOSHUA MUTALE said the team targets to qualify to the AFCON which will eventually lead to the next edition of the Olympics.

Zambia takes on Sierra Leone in Liberia on 22nd October, before a return match in Lusaka on 29th October.
