U20WWCQs: Haluboono names 22 for the Ghana trip

Zambia Under-20 Women’s National Team Coach Charles Haluboono has named his 22-member squad to travel to Ghana ahead of this weekend’s crunch encounter in the third round, the second leg of the 2022 Costa Rica FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifier match set for Accra Sports Stadium.

Coach Haluboono has maintained the core squad that played in a goalless draw in the first leg against Ghana a fortnight ago in Lusaka with the only inclusion to the team being Under-17 starlets duo of captain Lubasi Pumulo and Jessy Zulu who had a good COSAFA outing recently in Lesotho.

The Young Copper Queens will be led by team Captain Suzen Evaline Katongo with the other notable names being Goalpoacher Enelesi Phiri, Lungowe Namasiku, Shelly Masumo, Margaret Chisenga, Martha Katila Banda, Esther Siamfuko, Xiomala Mapepa, Tisilile Lungu including Loveness Tonge.

The winner between Zambia and Ghana will qualify to the final round were they will face either South Africa or Uganda who will be battling it out in the other fixture with The Young Cranes leading Batsetsana 1-0 on aggregate going into the return match this weekend in Johannesburg.

Only 2 teams from Africa will qualify to the Costa Rica final tournament to be played next year from 10-28 August, 2022.

Zambia and Ghana will lockhorns on Saturday 18th December, 2021 at Accra Sports Stadium with kick-off set at 15:00hrs.
