The Zambia U-17 national team has been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Lesotho for the 2021 COSAFA Boys Under-17 Championship that will be played at the Maseru 2021 Region 5 Youth Games.

This follows the draw that was conducted at the Manthabiseng Convention Centre on Friday evening.

The other three teams in the group are Eswatini, Mauritius, and Madagascar. The five countries will contest matches in a round-robin format, with the top two nations advancing to the semifinals.

Coach George Chilufya led young Copper Bullets were losing finalists in the 2020 COSAFA Men’s Under-17 Championship and will be eager to go one better this time around.

Defending COSAFA champions South Africa have been drawn in group B alongside Angola, Malawi, Botswana, and Seychelles.

Meanwhile, The COSAFA Girls Under-17 Championship will be played with just four teams after several nations also withdrew their teams later for a variety of reasons.

Botswana, Mauritius, South Africa, and Zambia will play in a single group as a round-robin, with the top two advancing to the final.

The tournament will be played from December 1-10.
