TWO ZAMBIANS NABBED FOR AIDING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

The Immigration department has apprehended two Zambians for trafficking and aiding foreign nationals into the country.

The suspects have been identified as SHADREK MABOLYO 50 of Choma district and MUDENDA MUTENA 38 of Livingstone district.

Immigration department Acting Public Relations Officer, JOSEPHINE MALAMBO, says the two were on a Toyota Alphard registration number AIC 4225 believed to belong to a company called Green Bird of Choma, carrying eight Pakistani and four Bangladesh  nationals suspected to be prohibited immigrants.

Mrs. MALAMBO says this came to light following a tip off from members of the public about the presence of the suspected prohibited immigrants at Sagonde Lodge located within Lusaka’s Kabangwe area.

She adds that a team of Zambia Police and Immigration officers rushed to the area and managed to intercept the said motor vehicle as it attempted to leave.

Mrs. MALAMBO says both the suspected immigrants and the two suspected traffickers are detained in police custody pending further investigations.
