The Democratic Republic of Congo -DRC- government says its President Felix Tshisekedi has set the Kasomeno- Mwenda toll road as one of his priority projects that he intends to deliver with Zambia during his first term in office.

Speaking on arrival for a tour of the construction site of the Luapula Bridge and the Kasomeno-Mwenda toll road in Luapula Province, DRC Infrastructure and Public Works Minister Willy Ngoopos said his visit is an assurance of his President’s commitment to execute the project.

Mr. Ngoopos who is also that country’s Vice Prime Minister explained that President TSHISEKEDI sent him to Zambia as a show of commitment to the bilateral project that the two countries want to develop.

ZANIS reports that Mr. Ngoopos who arrived in the country through the Kashiba Border Post in Mwense District was received by Luapula Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa.

And Mr. Chilangwa said the DRC Minister’s visit to Zambia is a huge boost to the project.

Mr. Chilangwa said he is hopeful that early works on the project earmarked to start in March this year will proceed.

He said President Edgar Lungu and his Congolese counterpart have given their full support to the project.

Mr. Ngoopos has since left the country for Kinshasa.
