“Transport Sector Poor Working Conditions Complaints High”

Government says it has continued to record complaints of poor working conditions from workers in the transport industry countrywide.

Labour and Social Security Minister, BRENDA TAMBATAMBA says workers are the drivers of the economy hence the need for good relationships between workers and employers in the transport sector.

Mrs.  TAMBATAMBA said the transport industry plays a significant role in the modern economy.

Speaking during the first ever stakeholders consultative meeting in Lusaka, Mrs TAMBATAMBA stated that the success of a nation is closely linked to transport.

Meanwhile the Zambia Federation of Employers President MARA SAKALA said the Indaba resulted from a Labour inspection that was conducted to check compliance levels in the transportation sector.

And Zambia Congress of Trade Union JOSEPH CHEWE said he is pleased by the government’s effort to resolve the challenges highlighted in a stakeholder report.
